Worship Enrichment Committee

Changing Up the Worship Experience,

One Sunday at a Time

Inspired by the richness of our Episcopal faith, Holy Spirit’s Worship Enrichment Committee provides variety to the Sunday morning worship experience, as well as lay input into that worship experience. 


The Worship Enrichment Committee is not a worship committee, that is, it does not coordinate the theme and content of weekly worship with Holy Spirit’s clergy and staff. Rather, WEC provides content (typically in place of the sermon) to Sunday morning services once a quarter that examines or instructs on liturgical subjects, channels the thought and voice of HSP’s laity, or creatively addresses spiritual topics. To date WEC’s offerings have included:

  • an instructional guide to Sunday worship (the Word of God and Holy Eucharist) 
  • an examination of the seasons, sequence and themes of the liturgical calendar 
  • a consideration of meanings given the Cross and the Holy Spirit 
  • two Poetry Sundays, and 
  • a short play examining the meaning of Celtic spirituality


WEC’s mission continues to evolve. At present the committee is comprised of four lay parishioners, as well as a co-rector.
